On March 1, the Center for Nonprofit Excellence sponsored Nonprofit Day in Colorado Springs. 400 people attended the event.
Andi Leopoldus presented a work session on “Getting Your Message Out to Elected Officials”.
During my presentations, I always recommend that you work with a professional who can help you to maneuver the landscape and avoid the landmines.
I was asked “How do you find someone to work with?” I recommended that you check with your elected officials. See who they recommend. They know who the effective lobbyists are.
You can look up lobbyists and their clients on the Colorado Secretary of State’s website www.sos.state.co.us. Lobbyists must register and disclose their clients. You can find organizations that are similar to yours, then ask your elected officials about someone specific.
You don’t need to go it alone.
